Athens quirky spots

Around Plateia Karitsi, Plateia Ag. Eirinis and Kolokotroni street there are still hip spots around but Koukaki is the new up and coming area for the nightlife in a once dodgy area of Athens.

A Greek taverna ideal for dinner, hidden in Koukaki area.  Good size family dishes to share and house wine, the place is always buzzing. Do you want to go where the locals go? Then this is the ideal place. Head after for drinks in the bars around the area.

Cocktail bar located in a neoclassical home in Koukaki area. As calm as it is seems outside the buzzier it is inside. The place is separated in different rooms with different seating areas. Loud music, young crowd in their late 20s, early 30s and very good cocktails.

It has Mexican and Latin flavors in a hip and trendy environment. The decor is like being in the courtyard of a Latin house. Colours, lights, balconies overlooking the internal courtyard and loud music. Plates are for sharing as is the jug of margarita.  It is also a great place for drinks only, with a great selection of cocktails.

  7. Scala Vinoteca: for good Italian food and good wine
  8. Dry and Raw by Drakoulis: a butcher on ground level, distributing high quality meat all over the country, and a small restaurant on the basement which of course specializes on meat dishes. A modern concept for those who know and love their meat. 
  9. Queen Bee: great spot for weekend brunch in the center of Athens
  10. Odori Vermuteria Di Atene: for good cocktails in a new hotspot
  11. Warehouse: nice place with good wines and coffee in the area of Eksarxia, an alternative area near the posh area of Kolonaki.
